Fixed Rate Plans
You pay a fixed rate for the energy portion of your bill for a specified amount of time (a rate that does not change over your contract term). Fixed rate plans are quoted in cents per kilowatt-hour and include additional pass through expenses from the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU), the company that reads the meter and maintains the wires and poles, and from regulatory agencies. It is important to note that these non-energy costs are outside of our control and if they change, your rate could go up or down. We pass those charges through to our customers at no additional cost. We do not profit from TDU charges whether they increase, decrease or stay the same.
Variable Rate Plans
You are not locked into a long-term contract and your energy rate may vary from month to month. For each billing period, your rate will remain unchanged, but at the start of the next period it could go up or down. For a history of our variable rates, click here.
Green Plans
If you choose a Green Power plan, we purchase Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to effectively pair your usage with power generated from renewable sources such as wind, solar, geothermal, hydro, and biomass. In short, a REC is a credit granted to a green energy producer (a wind farm, for example) for each megawatt-hour generated from that producer’s renewable resource. The green energy producer can sell that REC into the open market. This is where we come in. We calculate how much energy is consumed by people on our Green Energy plans and purchase an equal number of RECs. Understand that renewable electrons are indistinguishable from electrons created through other means like fossil fuels (natural gas, coal, etc.). As a result, it is impossible for anyone to ensure that the electrons that reached your house were generated from a renewable resource (no matter what they may say on their website). However, purchasing a REC on your behalf helps ensure that renewable generators are able to continue to provide clean, renewable energy. When you choose to make a plan "green", you are supporting the renewable energy industry, as a whole, and helping to reduce your carbon footprint. The more our customers make their plans green, the more RECs we buy to support green energy production, offsetting energy that would have been created through conventional means.
You are allowed to switch electricity providers, penalty free, 14 or fewer calendar days prior to your contract expiration date.
For both residential and commercial accounts, we run a credit check to determine whether or not a deposit is required. Currently, the deposit amount is $350 for a residential meter and it would need to be paid upon enrollment by credit or debit card (MasterCard, Discover, Visa or American Express). For commercial accounts, the deposit would start at $350, but could be more depending on the energy usage of the property.
If the power is out, you should contact your local TDU, not your provider. TDU stands for Transmission and Distribution Utility and is also known as a TDSP or transmission and distribution service provider. You'll recognize these providers as AEP Texas North, AEP Texas Central, CenterPoint Energy, Oncor Electric Delivery, and Texas-New Mexico Power. These companies are responsible for physically delivering your energy through their wires and are regulated by the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC). Many people think that providers like us fix the power lines but that is actually the responsibility of the local TDU. The contact phone numbers are listed on your invoice and below for your reference:
AEP Texas North and AEP Texas Central - (866) 223-8508
CenterPoint Energy - (800) 332-7143
Oncor Electric Delivery - (888) 313-4747
Texas-New Mexico Power - (888) 866-7456
No! Leave everything to us. After you complete the Revolution Energy enrollment process through our site or with one of our Customer Care representatives, we do the rest. We will contact everyone who needs to know and make sure that the transition is a smooth one. We do recommend that you refer to your current provider’s Terms of Service document to see if anything specific is required from you, including whether you are subject to an early termination fee.
Excellent question. Let's use this bill as an example.
Usage
The Usage section at the top of the bill shows the current and previous meter reads. In this example, this customer used 325 kWh of energy during this billing cycle (the difference between the two meter reads, multiplied by the relevant multiplier, which in this case is 1).
Charges
- Revolution Energy Charge: The Revolution Energy Charge line in the Charges section turns that usage into a dollar amount. This customer is paying an energy rate of 5.72 ¢/kWh, or $0.057200/kWh. We multiply the rate by the usage and we get $18.59. This customer chose a fixed rate plan so their energy rate will not change during the length of their contract with us. Their usage may increase next month, but $0.057200/kWh will not change.
- Revolution Monthly Base Charge: Sometimes our plans include a recurring monthly base charge to cover the incremental costs of providing our basic services. This plan includes a $1.50 monthly charge.
- Revolution Usage Fee/Credit: This might be a usage fee if your usage falls below a certain threshold or a credit if you are on a plan that includes a credit for reaching a certain usage level. This customer chose a plan that has a Minimum Usage Fee of $4.95 if usage is less than 500 kWh in a billing period. The amount of the Minimum Usage Fee is plan- and TDU-specific and can be found in the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) document.
- TDU Energy Charge (taxable and non-taxable): The taxable TDU Energy Charge is $10.02 and the non-taxable TDU Energy Charge is $2.10. Those are calculated by multiplying rate by usage; however, be aware that the TDU (transmission and distribution utility) rates are subject to change. Revolution Energy will never profit from a TDU rate change should one occur. We pass those rates along to you at no additional charge.
- TDU Monthly Base Charge: Your TDU may include a monthly fee to cover some of their costs. In this case, the TDU Monthly Base Charge is $8.72 Remember that all TDU charges, which are set by the individual TDUs (not us), are subject to change and passed through to you at no additional charge.
Add up all of those items and you get $45.88, which are all the charges before taxes and fees. Add taxes and any other fees and the Total Current Charges of $47.38 is the amount due.

First and foremost, welcome to the Infuse Energy family. If you ever have questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact us at 844-INFUSE2 (463-8732). Now back to your question. Your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) will take an initial reading of your power meter on your switch day and then take another reading on the scheduled meter read date for your area (going forward, each meter read will be about a month apart). Those readings are sent to us, and we generate your bill and send it to you. Your due date will be 16 days from the date the bill was sent. If you're on Autopay, funds will be automatically charged to your credit card or withdrawn from your bank account on your due date. Otherwise, you can pay online, by phone, or by mail.

ERCOT stands for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. It is a nonprofit corporation that manages the flow of electricity to more than 26 million Texas customers, representing about 90 percent of the state's electric load. ERCOT is the independent system operator for the region, which means it schedules power on an electric grid that connects more than 52,700 miles of transmission lines and 1,100 generation units. It also performs financial settlement for the competitive wholesale bulk-power market and administers retail switching for 8 million premises in competitive choice areas.
ERCOT's Securitization Debt Financing Charge is a new financial mechanism that was created in response to the February 2021 Winter Storm Uri. The storm caused widespread power outages and blackouts across Texas, and it also caused ERCOT to incur significant debt. The Securitization Debt Financing Charge is a significant step forward in ERCOT's efforts to recover from the Winter Storm Uri. The charge will allow ERCOT to raise the money it needs to pay off its debt and make necessary improvements to the grid. This will help to ensure that ERCOT can continue to provide reliable and affordable electricity to Texans. The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved ERCOT's Securitization Debt Financing Charge on February 25, 2022. The charge is expected to be $2.1 billion over 30 years.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
-
Unplug appliances when you're not using them. Even when they're turned off, appliances can still use energy if they're plugged in. This is called "phantom load." So, whenever you're not using an appliance, unplug it.
-
Set your thermostat to a higher temperature in the summer and a lower temperature in the winter. Every degree you raise or lower your thermostat can save you up to 3% on your energy bill.
-
Use natural light whenever possible. Open your curtains and blinds during the day to let in natural light. This will help you reduce your reliance on artificial lighting.
-
Wash your clothes in cold water. You can save energy and water by washing your clothes in cold water. Most clothes don't need to be washed in hot water to get clean.
-
Take shorter showers. Shorter showers use less water and energy. Aim for 5-7 minutes per shower.
-
Turn off the lights when you leave a room. This is a simple way to save energy.
-
Install energy-efficient light bulbs. Energy-efficient light bulbs use less energy than traditional incandescent light bulbs. They also last longer, so you won't have to replace them as often.
-
Weatherize your home. Weatherizing your home can help to reduce heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. This can save you money on your energy bills.
These are just a few tips to help you save energy at home. By making a few simple changes, you can make a big difference.

You're in control! Your contract guarantees your current price, but market conditions may lead to future adjustments, up or down. If you prefer a different plan at any time, you can switch, but keep in mind there might be an early termination fee according to your contract.
The invoice due date is 16 days from the date your electricity invoice is generated. Any payment received after your bill due date will be considered late and will incur a 5% late fee. Failure to pay your bill by the invoice due date may result in a disconnection notice being sent to your billing address, complete with a scheduled disconnection date that is no fewer than 10 days later.

Yes. You will continue to receive copies of your bill each month even though you are on Autopay.
Your billing cycle begins and ends based upon the meter reading dates determined by the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) for your area. Please be advised that Revolution Energy does not control when the TDU reads your meter, but we can help you determine your meter read dates or you can call your TDU directly. A typical billing cycle is 27-35 days in length and varies by month.
Take a quick look at the date of the ending (last) meter read on that bill. It's probably the same as your switch date from your old provider to Revolution Energy. Your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) read your meter on your switch date and sent that reading to your previous power company and your previous power company then generated your final bill from them using that final reading.
Revolution Energy does offer an average payment program. Average billing is based on your paying one-twelfth of the sum of the most recent twelve months’ consumption and can be recalculated as frequently as every billing period.
After you enroll with Revolution Energy, give us at least three business days to process your switch or move-in date and to receive your historical usage from your local Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU). Then, email us at care@joinarevolution.com and we'll give you an average payment amount. Once you receive the estimated average price, you will have the following choices. You can either:
- agree to move forward with the average payment program and pay based on your average amount; or
- continue with your enrollment at the non-average price, and pay based upon your actual consumption each month
If you do not respond, the enrollment will be processed, but we will assume you have chosen not to participate in the average billing program.
Participation in the average billing program is contingent on enrolling in an Revolution Energy plan term of six months or longer and on-time payments over the course of that term. The difference between actual amounts incurred and the total estimated average payments received will be reconciled at whichever is earlier: one year of Revolution Energy service; the Revolution Energy plan ending date; or the effective termination date due to a payment delinquency or your switching to another retail electricity provider.
During any billing period in which the utility company for your area fails to provide an actual meter reading on a timely basis, an estimate of your usage will be used to generate your electricity bill. The estimate is based upon information from the utility company, not us. If necessary, adjustments are made in subsequent bills when an actual meter reading is provided. If your bill is estimated for any given month, you will see the notation "Estimated" on your bill.
The typical reason the utility company does not read your meter in a timely manner is that the technician was unable to access the meter for your service address, for example, due to a locked gate or an animal was blocking access to the meter.
You bet.
Units of Measure
There are three units of measure reflected on an invoice:
- kWh: Kilowatt-hour, the standard unit for measuring electricity energy consumption, equal to 1,000 watt-hours.
- kW: Kilowatt, the standard unit for measuring electricity demand at a given point in time, equal to 1,000 watts.
- kVa: Kilovolt-ampere , another unit for measuring electricity demand, equal to 1,000 volt-amperes. kVa is a measure of apparent energy, which is the product of current and voltage. To convert kW to kVa, the kW is divided by the power factor (the ratio of true power to apparent power).
Charge Types
There are three primary types of recurring charges:
- Base Charge (in dollars per month): a fixed charge which may be assessed during each billing cycle generally without regard to your demand or energy consumption, except for a minimum usage fee which is based on the amount of energy consumed during the billing period.
- Energy Charge: A charge based on the electric energy (kWh) consumed.
- Demand Charge: A charge based on the highest rate of energy consumption at any instant during a given billing cycle. Typically, demand charges do not apply to residential customers.
Recurring charges (excluding taxes and regulatory fees) are divided into two categories:
- Revolution Energy Charges: charges assessed by Revolution Energy for providing electricity service to consumers.
- TDU Charges: Charges assessed by a Transmission & Distribution Utility (TDU) for the delivery of electricity to a customer over poles and wires and other TDU facilities. These charges are typically passed through to you by Revolution Energy and appear on the invoice at no additional cost.
Specific Charges
Some charges are identified separately on the invoice. Examples of such charges include:
- Late Payment Penalty: A charge of 5% assessed for a late payment in accordance with Public Utility Commission rules.
- Sales tax: Sales tax collected by authorized taxing authorities, such as the state, cities and special purpose districts.
- Miscellaneous Gross Receipts Tax Reimbursement (abbreviated as “Gross Receipts Reimb.”): A fee assessed to recover the miscellaneous gross receipts tax imposed on retail electric providers operating in an incorporated city or town having a population of more than 1,000.
- PUC Assessment: A fee assessed to recover the statutory fee for administering the Public Utility Regulatory Act.
Minimum Usage Fee
The Minimum Usage Fee is a fee charged if your usage (energy used) is less than a specified level in a billing period of 28 days or more. If your billing period is fewer than 28 days, the Minimum Usage Fee will be prorated based on the number of days in your billing period. Minimum Usage Fees do not apply if usage equals or exceeds the specified usage level in a billing period of 28 days or more or if usage averages more than the prorated specified usage level per day in a billing period less than 28 days. The amount of the Minimum Usage Fee is plan- and TDU-specific and can be found in the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) document.
For example, if the specified usage level is 500 kWh and the Minimum Usage Fee is $4.95:
- If your usage for a 28 day (or more) billing period is less than 500 kWh, you will be charged a Minimum Usage Fee of $4.95 for that billing period.
- If your usage for a 28 day (or more) billing period is greater than 500 kWh, you will not be charged a Minimum Usage Fee of $4.95 for that billing period.
If your billing period is fewer than 28 days, the Minimum Usage Fee will be prorated if your usage averages out to less than 17 kWh per day (500 kWh/30 days). So if your billing period is 15 days and your usage is 200 kWh, then your usage per day is 13 kWh (200 kWh/15 days). Because your usage falls below the 17 kWh per day mark, a Minimum Usage Fee of approximately $2.50 (prorated fee based on number of days in the billing period) would be charged.
There are a variety of fees that you may see on your bill, and they will either come from us or from the transmission and distribution utility (TDU). If they come from the TDU, we will pass those along to you at no additional cost. You may see certain Revolution Energy fees such as charges for not choosing paperless billing or Autopay. These charges are assessed to account for the added time and administrative expenses associated with these choices. You may refer to our Terms of Service and review our Possible Nonrecurring Fees section.
Excellent question. Let's use this bill as an example.

Unfortunately, no. We would if we could! The due date is a function of when your TDU reads your meter each month. The TDU sends those readings to us, and we process your invoice and send it to you. Your due date will be 16 days from the date your bill is sent. Because your TDU does not read your meter on the same day of each month, your due date will change each month.
You can see your current and past invoices by logging in to your Revolution Energy account and selecting "My Bills". You can also contact Customer Care at 888-374-1776, and one of our representatives will look it up.
You can view PDF versions of invoices we have sent you by logging into your account and clicking "View Previous Bills" in the "My Bills" section. On the second page of each invoice is where you can find your itemized usage.
Most Texans have Advanced Meters (often called “Smart Meters”), but “smart” doesn’t mean perfect. Sometimes mistakes are made! We receive meter reads directly from the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU), and are in close contact with them on a daily basis. If there was a mistake reading your meter, usually the mis-read will be caught by the TDU technician and a correction will appear on the subsequent bill.
If you still think the meter was read incorrectly, please contact us at 888-374-1776—we want your bill to be right! We will request that the TDU re-read the meter and begin an investigation, and payment of your current bill will be suspended until the investigation is complete. If it turns out that the meter was read incorrectly, there is no fee charged for the re-read and we will send the corrections on your next bill. But if the meter was originally read correctly, your TDU may charge you a re-read fee which will be added to your bill. Your bill plus the re-read fee will be due immediately.
Check out your TDU's website to learn how to read your meter and how to check if the meter was read correctly.
You can also contact us and request a meter test but fees may apply if the TDU meter test results determine that the meter is working properly. The meter test will be free of charge if that meter has not been tested within the last four years.
Good question. When you sign up for a fixed rate plan, your Revolution Energy electricity rate will not change during the term of your contract. Look for your rate on the "Revolution Energy Charge" line on your bill. You'll see your usage there, too.
Because there are three major categories of charges on your bill, we think it's important to be up front about the difference between the Revolution Energy charges and the regulated TDU charges (Transmission and Distribution Utility charges). And, it's important to know which charges can change.
Revolution Energy charges are rates from Revolution Energy that relate to providing electricity to you and will not change during your contract term. Revolution Energy charges reflect the monthly base charge or minimum usage fee and an energy rate you're paying per kWh. Energy rates included in the monthly plans may fluctuate on a month-to-month basis, but energy rates in fixed rate plans will not change during the contract term.
The TDU charges, however, may change, although these charges are infrequent. Those are the fees and charges from your TDU, which is the company responsible for maintaining the meter, poles and wires and getting the actual electrons to your home or business. You'll recognize these providers as AEP Texas North, AEP Texas Central, CenterPoint Energy, Oncor Electric Delivery, and Texas-New Mexico Power. TDU charges, which are outside of our control, may change during your contract term and are regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC). Any increase or decrease in delivery charges requires PUC approval. Revolution Energy passes those charges through at no additional cost. We do not profit from TDU charges whether they increase, decrease or stay the same. If you’re really ambitious (and are having trouble sleeping), you can read through Chapter 25 on the Public Utility Commission of Texas website (Electric Substantive Rules) to get more information on how this works.

By law, we are required to include this "average price" on your bill and it may be higher or lower than the effective rate you signed up for. The "average price" is calculated based on your actual usage (electricity consumed, in kWh) instead of a standard assumed usage, and incorporates any updates in regulated TDU rates.
The average price is calculated by dividing your total Charges Before Taxes and Fees by your total electricity usage.
Let's use this bill as an example.
This customer was quoted a Total Energy Rate when they enrolled. That total is figured by adding $0.057200 (the rate in the Revolution Energy Charge), $0.030825 (the rate in the taxable TDU Energy Charge) and $0.006468 (the rate in the non-taxable TDU Energy Charge).
The Total Energy Rate is 9.45 cents per KWh, which is figured by adding $0.057200 (the rate in the Revolution Energy Charge), $0.030825 (the rate in the taxable TDU Energy Charge) and $0.006468 (the rate in the non-taxable TDU Energy Charge). However, the average price is 14.12 cents per kWh, which is calculated by dividing the total Charges Before Taxes and Fees ($45.88) by the total usage (325 KWh).
- If your billing period is fewer than 28 days, the Minimum Usage Fee will be prorated if your usage averages out to less than 17 kWh per day (500 kWh/30 days).
The connection fee is a one-time administrative fee assessed by your local Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU). This regulated charge, which is approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC), is determined by the TDU for your area, not by Revolution Energy.
That disconnection notice fee is an administrative fee assessed by Revolution Energy. The fee covers the additional costs and burden that we incur to schedule, generate, print, and mail the disconnection notices to each customer if applicable, in addition to the extra personnel hired to handle these processes specifically.
When we enroll you on a fixed-term plan, which means that your energy rate is fixed for a specific term, we purchase wholesale power to mitigate our commodity risk. If you are a fixed-term customer and switch away to another retail electricity provider prior to the end of the contract, we are stuck with the excess electricity that you would have used had you stayed. Therefore, this charge is our protection against incurring any potential losses associated with selling off the excess power that results from an early contract termination. As a result, early termination fees typically vary by plan length.
If you are on a month-to-month (variable-rate) plan with Revolution Energy, you are not under a fixed-price contract and will not be assessed an early termination fee for switching to another provider.
You can contact Revolution Energy Customer Care at care@joinarevolution.com or 888-374-1776 to speak with a representative for more information about a payment arrangement or deferred payment plan. In addition, you can call 211 to learn about the available pledge agencies in your area that can provide assistance with helping you pay your bill.
Lastly, you can go to the Public Utility Commission of Texas's payment assistance web page to learn about more options offered by the state of Texas: https://www.puc.texas.gov/consumer/lowincome/assistance.aspx.
If you are late on a payment or forget to send it to us, contact us as soon as you can at care@joinarevolution.com or 888-374-1776 and we’ll do our best to work with you. We understand. You have a busy life and sometimes things fall through the cracks. If we do not hear from you within a few days, we will most likely send you a disconnection notice, and you will have 10 days to send us payment before your account is subject to disconnection for non-payment. Note that any payments made after the due date on your original invoice will be charged a 5% late fee in accordance with Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) regulations.
In accordance with Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) regulations, Revolution Energy charges a late fee equal to 5% of your past-due balance(s), less any charges for which you have already been assessed a late fee. You have 16 days after the issuance date of your invoice to pay your balance and this date is denoted on your invoice as the due date. If the balance for your account is not paid in full by your current invoice’s due date, Revolution Energy will consider any payment you make towards that invoice to be late.
In accordance with Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) regulations, Revolution Energy charges a late fee equal to 5% of your past-due balance(s), less any charges for which you have already been assessed a late fee.
You can pay by credit or debit card (MasterCard, Discover, Visa or American Express) or ACH payment through your bank. You can also mail a check or money order to:

As soon as your payment is processed, we send a reconnection order to the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) for your area. If you have a traditional analog meter, it can take 24-48 hours for your power to be reconnected, depending upon the workload of the TDU technicians. If you have an Advanced Meter (a “Smart Meter”), it can take only a few hours for your power to be reconnected.
For any additional questions, please contact Revolution Energy Customer Care at care@joinarevolution.com or 888-374-1776 to speak with a Customer Care representative.
We intend to net your consumption against your generation to determine your energy usage but we assume that for each month of billings, you are a net consumer of electricity (that is, your total usage exceeds your total generation in a given period).
The netting of your consumption and generation, as described above, will apply to the "commodity" (energy) portion of your bill and may, or may not, apply to the delivery charges portion of your bill (from your local transmission and distribution utility, or TDU), which we pass through at no additional cost. When you enroll with Revolution Energy for a term of more than one month, we fix your energy rate and pass through your delivery costs (TDU charges) at the prevailing regulated rates. Therefore, if your TDU does not net your energy as described above when determining your TDU charges, we must have the ability to pass through the relevant charges as incurred.
To learn more about the requirements, visit our Solar Buyback Program page.
Because these arrangements are relatively new, we would also need to reserve the right to update our policy related to these arrangements at any time.
Please contact us with any questions. You can email us at care@joinarevolution.com or call us at 888-374-1776.

That’s the easiest (and best) question you’ve asked so far. Look in the top right of this page where it reads “Find Rates”, enter your zip code into the search box, hit enter and away you go!
We use your SSN to check your credit score in order to determine whether or not we require you to post a deposit with us. We transmit the information to the credit agency through a secure site and once we receive the credit score, only the last four digits become visible to our customer service agents so they can properly identify you when you contact Customer Care.
You are allowed to switch electricity providers, penalty free, 14 or fewer calendar days prior to your contract expiration date.
Yes, there will be absolutely no change in reliability. Zero. Nada.
Your local Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) will still deliver the electricity to your home or business and read your meter each month just the same as with any other provider. The electricity delivered to your home or business will arrive through the same wires and those lines will continue to be maintained by the TDU. We let the TDU know that you’ve selected us as your provider and to send us your meter readings so we can bill you for service.
No. Revolution Energy does not charge any switching charges. The TDU may charge a fee if you request a specific day for your service to start or if you need expedited service and if that happens, Revolution Energy will pass that charge along to you at no additional cost.
Your full agreement between us includes the Electricity Facts Label (EFL), the Terms of Service (TOS), and the Your Rights as a Customer (YRAC) document. The EFL and provides you with the pricing, contract, fuel mix and emissions information associated with a particular electricity plan.
When shopping for plans, you will see a link to the TOS for each plan. After you enroll with Revolution Energy, we will send you a copy of your TOS. If you are currently a customer and can’t find the one we sent, no worries! Contact Customer Care at care@joinarevolution.com or 888-374-1776 and we’ll send one your way.
That depends on what kind of switch or move-in you choose.
- Standard Switch: 1-3 business days
- Self-Selected Switch: You choose—as soon as three business days from enrollment, but no longer than 30 calendar days. You pick the day.
- Move In: As soon as three business days from enrollment, but no longer than 30 calendar days. You pick the day.
- Priority Move In: 24-48 hours
All of these except the Standard Switch may involve fees assessed by your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) and passed along by us at no additional cost.
If you are on a month-to-month variable rate, your rate may change with each new billing period. If you are on a fixed rate plan, the Revolution Energy rate will not change during the term of the contract. Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) charges, which are outside of our control, may change during your contract term and are regulated by the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC). Any increase or decrease in delivery charges requires PUC approval. Revolution Energy passes those charges through at no additional cost. We do not profit from TDU charges whether they increase, decrease or stay the same.
If you are moving into a new property, whether or not you are currently one of our fabulous Revolution Energy customers, you should select move in. Each contract between you and Revolution Energy is for a specific meter, so if you move, we will need to enter into a new contract. Note that if your fixed-price contract is not up and you are moving to a new property, you will not be subject to an early termination fee. If the power is currently in your name at this address, but with another provider, you should select switch.
If you would like to switch on a specific day, you may incur an “out of cycle meter read” fee from the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU). That fee, which you will see on your Infuse Energy bill, will be passed on to you at no additional cost. Please note that an “out of cycle meter read” may not be scheduled more than 30 calendar days in advance from the date of your enrollment request.
If you want to switch to Revolution Energy at your current address and you don’t care which date your electricity is switched over, choose the standard switch. You’ll be switched to Revolution Energy typically within three days at no additional charge. This is the best option if you don’t have a specific date in mind.
If you want to switch to Revolution Energy at your current address, but you want to pick the exact date you are switched over, choose self-selected switch. There may be a charge for self-selected switches which vary by where you live. This fee will be assessed by your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) and passed along by us at no additional cost.
We respect your decision to change providers if your choice for an electricity provider is based on price alone.
But if great customer service (agent knowledge, ease of contact, low hold times, email response times, resolution of escalated issues) and billing accuracy are important to you, then staying with Revolution Energy is a good decision. We want to serve your electricity needs for many years to come and we work extremely hard for this privilege. We truly value your business and hope you will choose to stay with us.
Yes, but you’ll need to provide a deposit. Please give us a call at 888-374-1776 and a Customer Care representative can help guide you through the enrollment process.
Yes. During the enrollment process, we will check your credit score to determine whether or not we will require you to post a deposit. Almost all retail electric providers do this whether they disclose it or not.
For both residential and commercial accounts, we run a credit check to determine whether or not a deposit is required. Currently, the deposit amount is $350 for a residential meter and it would need to be paid upon enrollment by credit or debit card (MasterCard, Discover, Visa or AmericanExpress). For commercial accounts, the deposit would start at $350, but could be more depending on the energy usage of the property.
We base the deposit requirement on your credit score. If it falls below a certain threshold, we will ask for a deposit. As long as you comply with the Terms of Service and pay your bill on time for 12 consecutive months (residential) or 24 consecutive months (non-residential), you will get your deposit back with interest.
If you are a residential customer, you will be deemed to have satisfactory credit and will not be required to pay a Deposit if:
(i) you can provide a letter of credit from your current and/or previous REP(s) confirming you are not delinquent in payment and have not been late in paying your bill more than once during the last 12 consecutive months of service, or
(ii) you are deemed to have a satisfactory credit rating through a consumer reporting agency, or
(iii) you are at least 65 years of age and you do not have a current delinquent balance with your current REP or Revolution, as the case may be, or
(iv) you have been determined to be a “victim of family violence” by a family violence center, by treating medical personnel, by law enforcement personnel, by the Office of a Texas District Attorney or County Attorney, by the Office of the Attorney General, or by a grantee of the Texas Equal Access to Justice Foundation. (This determination shall be evidenced by submission of a certification letter developed by the Texas Council on Family Violence and the certification letter may be submitted directly by use of a toll-free fax number to Revolution), or
(v) you are medically indigent. Alternatively, you may post a letter of guarantee in lieu of a deposit.
For more information, email us at care@joinarevolution.com or call 888-374-1776
Revolution Energy will refund your deposit after you pay your bill on time for 12 consecutive months (residential) or 24 consecutive months (non-residential). Once you qualify for the refund, your deposit will be applied as a credit to your account within 30 days.
Otherwise, provided that you have satisfied all of your financial obligations to Revolution Energy, the deposit will be refunded to you within 30 days of the date that you discontinue service with us.
The deposit will first be applied to any remaining charges and fees you have on your final invoice. If there is anything left over, it will be refunded to you directly on your credit card, bank account or as a paper check that Revolution Energy will mail to you. It typically takes 6-8 weeks after your final invoice has been generated for the paper check to be mailed to you.
If you require a deposit at the end of the enrollment process, your deposit will typically be paid automatically in the form of a direct charge to your credit card or bank account. Alternatively a Cashier's Check or Money Order may be used and should be mailed to:
Revolution Energy LLC
Attn: Residential Deposits
2020 Southwest Freeway, Suite 325
Houston, TX 77098
Until Revolution Energy receives a deposit from you, we will not begin the process of switching your service to us.
It depends on whether or not you are on a fixed rate product. Month-to-month products do not have a cancellation fee, but fixed rate plans typically do. You can check to see if your plan has a cancellation fee and how much it is by looking at your Electricity Facts Label (EFL) document. If that seems like a hassle, sit back, relax and contact us at care@joinarevolution.com or call us at 888-374-1776. We’re happy to look it up for you.
If you close your account with Revolution Energy or switch to another electricity provider before your contract ends, you may be subject to an early termination fee, in accordance with your Electricity Facts Label (EFL). Please see your Terms of Service (TOS) and EFL for additional details.
When your contract expires, your service will not be terminated automatically. You will have the ability to enter into another fixed-rate contract at current rates, or the account will go into month-to-month status with the prevailing appropriate monthly rate as the default rate, in accordance with your terms of service.
You are eligible to renew your plan with Revolution Energy within 45 days before your plan expires; and, as a reminder, we will send you a plan renewal offer around thirty (30) days before expiration. You can enroll in a plan with the same term as your current plan or choose another plan that works for you. Either way, you've got 45 days to decide. If you don't take any action, we'll automatically enroll you in the prevailing appropriate monthly plan.
Because wholesale energy prices change often, note that when you renew with Revolution Energy, you are not necessarily renewing at your current rate, and therefore will need to choose among the options available at that time.
The renewal plan becomes effective on your contract expiration date if that date is a scheduled utility meter read date or, if not, the next utility meter read date after your plan expires.
Sometimes our pricing is the best in the industry and sometimes it's not. We work hard to offer the best possible value to our customers and potential customers and we believe quality is not always reflected in price alone. We hope that if our rate is a bit higher than our competitors, you will stay for our service (and maybe even our personality), but we will understand if you leave us. No, really. We also suspect that you will find in time that Revolution Energy consistently offers compelling quality and value.
A retail electric provider (REP), like Revolution Energy, can place a “Switch-Hold” on your residential service address if you are delinquent in your payments and the REP is concerned that you will switch to another provider without satisfying your financial commitments. Effectively, a REP can place a switch-hold on a given service address for non-payment of a past-due balance. Once you pay these outstanding charges, the REP who applied the switch-hold will send notification to the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) for your area to have the switch-hold removed.
A switch hold can also be placed by the TDU if it discovers tampering has occurred to the meter. In this scenario, the charges will be passed through by your REP on your bill. Once these charges have been paid, your REP will send notification to the TDU to have the switch hold removed.
In both scenarios, if you do not pay the requested charges, you will not be able to switch to a new REP.
When you place an order for service with Revolution Energy, we submit the order to the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU), but the order can be rejected due to what is called a Switch-Hold. This means that you are not allowed to enroll for service at that meter until the Switch-Hold is removed. The most common reason for a Switch-Hold is that you, or the previous resident, were delinquent in your payments to your previous retail electric provider (REP) and that REP asked your transmission and distribution Utility (TDU) to place the Switch-Hold on the account. If you satisfy the financial requirements of your previous REP, we can work with you to get the Switch-Hold removed. If you are a new tenant, please Contact our Customer Care department at care@joinarevolutioncom or at 888-374-1776, and we will walk through the procedure to have the switch hold removed.
Please say you’re kidding. If there is a way we can convince you to stay, please contact Customer Care at care@joinarevolution.com or by calling 888-374-1776. If you are committed to leaving and you switched to Revolution Energy from another provider, you can cancel your service request with no penalty within three days of requesting service with Revolution Energy. This provision is regulated by the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) and is the same for all providers. To cancel your switch request, contact us at care@joinarevolution.com or by calling 888-374-1776 and we will (sadly) take care of the rest.
If it has been more than three days, then you simply sign up with another provider and your switch request will be handled by your new provider. We do recommend that you refer to your Electricity Facts Label (EFL) and your Terms of Service (TOS) documents to see if anything specific is required from you, including whether you are subject to an early termination fee.
If this was a move-in and you would like to cancel your service with Revolution Energy, please contact Customer Care. The three-day rescission period does not apply to move-ins and you will be responsible for all the charges from the day of your move-in until the day your service is canceled. Please check the Electricity Facts Label and Term of Service documents to see if an early termination fee applies.
We think you shouldn’t go. But it sounds like there may be something about our service you’re not happy with. Please contact us at 888-374-1776 and let’s talk. We’d love it if you would be willing to speak to one of our Customer Care agents to see if there’s anything we can do to fix the issue so you can continue to be part of our family.
Yes! You can put the address under the same account by logging into your account and selecting "Add Service Address" in the "Plan Information" section. After you've added the address, you will see the additional address in the drop-down in the top right corner of your login screens. If you have trouble enrolling additional service addresses, please contact customer care at care@joinarevolution.com or by calling 888-374-1776.
Here are the eligible plans that allow you to participate in the program.
- Let Freedom Ring Green
- Allegiance Green
There are two general steps involved:
1) You need to make sure you have executed an Interconnection Agreement with your local Transmission & Distribution Utility (TDU). Once your TDU confirms your system is ready, your excess generation will automatically be sent to Infuse by your TDU.
2) You need to be enrolled into one of Revolution Energy's standard green energy plans, like the Let Freedom Ring Green or Allegiance Green plans.
Once you have executed the Interconnection Agreement with your TDU, your TDU will begin reporting your excess generation to Infuse. Note that it can take up to 3 billing cycles after your Interconnection Agreement has been executed for your TDU to begin reporting your excess generation to Revolution. This timing is completely controlled by your TDU and as soon as Revolution begins receiving the excess generation information, you will begin seeing it reflected on your invoices.
Your electricity meter tracks both inflow and outflow electricity. When your solar panels generate electricity you can't use, those electrons are sent back to the grid as outflow electricity. That is the excess electricity that Revolution buys back which you will see reflected on your invoices.
Residential customers with solar panels installed on their property to power their homes.
No, these meters only measure the electricity you consume from the grid and the excess electricity flowing back onto the grid. If a monitoring system was installed with your solar panels, which is separate from your electricity meter, the monitoring system is what tracks all power produced by your solar panels.
Deregulation is the opening of a market to competition in a previously regulated industry. In Texas, there used to be only one choice for electricity based on where you live. If you wanted electricity, you had to buy from the local utility. Texas Senate Bill 7, on January 1, 2002, created a deregulated electricity industry in Texas, allowing consumers in certain jurisdictions the opportunity to buy electricity from any Retail Electricity Provider (REP) they choose. The actual delivery of electricity across poles and wires to your home or business is called transmission and distribution. These services are still provided to you by the local Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU), which is responsible for maintaining the poles and wires, reading your meter and responding to emergencies and power outages. With electric competition, REPs sell electricity to you and provide functions such as customer service and billing. It is important to note that no matter which REP provides service, the reliability will be exactly the same—the PUC regulates the delivery of electricity to ensure it is delivered safely and reliably by the TDU.
To see if your home or business is in a deregulated jurisdiction, enter your zip code in the top right of this page where it reads “Find My Best Rate”, hit enter and away you go!
If you live in a deregulated jurisdiction, you can now decide which Retail Electric Provider (REP) services your house or business. It is important to note that no matter which REP provides service, the reliability will be exactly the same—the PUCT regulates the delivery of electricity to ensure it is delivered safely and reliably by your local transmission and distribution utility (TDU).
Look in the top right of this page where it reads “Find My Best Rate”, enter your zip code into the search box, hit enter and away you go! Or, if you prefer, contact us at care@joinarevolution.com or at 888-374-1776 and we can look it up for you.
No. No matter which Retail Electric Provider (REP) you choose, your electricity will always be delivered via the same wires and meter you have now.
If you have an Advanced Meter (commonly known as a “Smart Meter”), the numbers are displayed digitally and are simple to read. You can also see meter information by setting up an account with Smart Meter Texas: https://www.smartmetertexas.com/register
If you have an older model meter, here is a tutorial from the U.S. Department of Energy website with exact instructions on how to make sense of all the spinning dials: http://energy.gov/energysaver/articles/how-read-your-electric-meter
The TDU, or the local company responsible for making sure you get power to your house through their wires, reads meters on a periodic basis. In order for the TDU to report to Revolution Energy how much energy you used in a given period, they subtract the beginning (of the period) reading from the ending (of the period) reading, and then multiply the difference by the meter multiplier (typically a “1” for residential meters). The result is the number of kilowatt-hours (kWh) you used during that period.
The retail electricity industry has a lot of crazy terms and acronyms. Below are explanations for a few of them. If you still have questions, contact us at care@joinarevolution.com or at 888-374-1776 and we will help you out.
- Base Charge: A charge assessed during each billing cycle without regard to the customer's demand or energy consumption.
- Demand Charge: A charge based on the highest rate at which electric energy is delivered to or by a system at a given instant, or averaged over a designated period, during the billing cycle.
- EFL (Electricity Facts Label): A document, which is part of your full agreement with any retail electric provider, and states (among other things) the effective rate you would pay (before taxes and fees) at 500 kWh, 1,000 kWh and 2,000 kWh assumed electricity usage levels. The rates will reflect all recurring charges that you will incur.
- Energy Charge: A charge based on the electric energy (kWh) consumed.
- ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas): ERCOT manages and coordinates the flow of electricity to a majority of Texans and ensures that there is ample energy on the grid at all times to supply demand.
- ESI or ESIID (Electric Service Identifier ID): This number identifies a specific meter at a specific location.
- Late Payment Penalty: A charge assessed for late payment. Late Payment Penalties are regulated by the Texas Public Utility Commission.
- kW (Kilowatt): the standard unit for measuring electricity demand, equal to 1,000 watts.
- kWh (Kilowatt Hour): the standard unit for measuring electricity energy consumption over a period of time, equal to 1,000 watt-hours.
- PUC or PUCT (Public Utility Commission of Texas): This is the governing body that makes electricity rules in the state of Texas. They have authority over everything from generation to retail.
- REP (Retail Electric Provider): A REP sells electricity to retail customers in deregulated jurisdictions. A REP buys wholesale electricity, delivery service, and related services, prices electricity for customers, and sells and bills electricity to end users.
- TDU (Transmission and Distribution Utility): The local wires and poles company that is responsible for making sure that you get power to your home or business. They are responsible for everything involving the wires, poles and your meter. You'll recognize these companies as Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas Central, AEP Texas North, and TNMP.
- Terms of Service (TOS): The TOS is a document outlining terms and conditions related to your electricity service. Think of this as the major part of your contract between you and Revolution Energy. The TOS, combined with the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) and the Your Rights as a Customer (YRAC) document comprise your entire agreement with any retail electric provider.
The current hours of operation for the Revolution Energy customer care department are as follows: 8:30am-5:30pm Monday - Friday (Central Time).
You can contact us at care@joinarevolution.com or speak with a customer service representative during the hours of operation by calling us at 888-374-1776. Remember that you can always email us any time of day and we will typically get back to you within 1 business day.
If you or a member of your household has a physical condition that makes availability of your electric service necessary for survival, please contact us at care@joinarevolution.com or at 888-374-1776 for information on how to ensure that your service address is placed on the critical care list maintained by the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) for your area. We will direct you to the proper form and explain the next steps.
Revolution Energy purchases power generated from a variety of sources such as wind farms, natural gas, coal, and nuclear. We do not generate the energy ourselves. Understand that electrons on the grid that get delivered to your house or business are indistinguishable from each other whether they were created from a wind farm, a coal plant or a nuclear facility. As a result, it is impossible for anyone to ensure that the electrons that reached your house were generated from a specific resource (no matter what they may say on their website).
Your power could be disconnected because you have a past-due balance with Revolution Energy that has not been paid, and since it is now greater than 10 days past your bill due date, a disconnection order has been completed for your service address. If this is the case, Revolution Energy mailed you a disconnection notice to your billing address after your bill due date. That disconnection notice detailed the past-due balance on file for your account and a scheduled date for the disconnection. You will need to pay this past-due balance in full so that Revolution Energy can send the reconnect order to the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) for your area. You can also contact Revolution Energy Customer Care at care@joinarevolution.com or at 888-374-1776 request a payment arrangement for your past-due balance.
Another reason your power is disconnected is that your area is experiencing a temporary power outage due to complications with the electricity grid. If your disconnection is due to a temporary power outage, you will need to call the TDU for your area to inquire as to the reason for the outage and to obtain an estimated time frame in which your power will be reconnected.
For any further questions, please contact Revolution Energy Customer Care at care@joinarevolution.com or at 888-374-1776to speak with a customer care representative.
If you are disconnected because of a past-due balance, you can have your power reconnected by paying your past-due balance in full. You can also contact Revolution Energy customer care at care@joinarevolution.com or at 888-374-1776 to request a payment arrangement for your past-due balance. If you are disconnected because of technical difficulties with the electric grid in your area, you will have to contact the Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) for your area for more information.
If you have a traditional analog meter, please be advised that it can take 24-48 hours for your power to be reconnected, depending upon the workload of the TDU technicians. If you have a digital Smart Meter, it can take only a few hours for your power to be reconnected.
All of the Revolution Energy plans can be made green by selecting the “Show me the Green plans" option during the enrollment process.
Also known as Green Energy, Renewable Energy is electricity generated by naturally sustainable fuel sources instead of being generated from fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, etc.) or nuclear technology. Examples of renewable energy are solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass. The generation of green energy does not send harmful emissions like carbon dioxide, mercury, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide into the environment.
All of the Revolution Energy plans can be made green by selecting the “Show me Green plans" option during the enrollment process.
Upon enrollment, every customer is assigned their very own promotional code. You can send that code to your friends, post it to Facebook, tweet it, hire a skywriter, whatever. When anyone else uses that promo code and enrolls into one of our introductory Let Freedom Ring or Let Freedom Ring Green plan, you and your friend each get a $25 credit as our way of saying "thank you" from Revolution Energy. Note that the person being referred will receive the bill credit on their sixth invoice from Revolution Energy. You should have received your code sometime after enrollment, but if you don't think you got it or can't find it, contact customer care at care@joinarevolution.com or at 888-374-1776 and we can give it to you. Simple.
If you are moving out of your premise, you can send an email to care@joinarevolution.com with your account number, the address you are moving out of and your preferred move-out date or you can call us at 888-374-1776 and give us the information over the phone. As per PUC rules, early termination fees do not apply for move-outs. As a result, we may ask for a document of some type that shows that you are, in fact, moving out of the premise.
You can see historical month-to-month rates by clicking here. Select the plan you are wondering about, your TDU (Transmission & Distribution Utility), whether you are looking for Residential or Commercial rates, and hit the submit button.
