We encourage customers experiencing financial hardship to contact us as soon as possible to discuss available payment options and assistance resources. Early communication can help prevent service interruptions and provide additional options for managing your account.
Payment Assistance & Bill Help
If you're unable to pay your full balance by the due date, we may be able to help. Please contact us before your due date, or immediately upon receiving a past-due notice, to discuss available options.
Payment Options

State and Community Energy Assistance Programs
Customers may qualify for energy assistance programs administered through local agencies and community organizations.
Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)
The Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is the primary energy assistance program available to eligible Texas households. CEAP may provide assistance with electric bills, crisis assistance, and certain weatherization services. Eligibility is generally based on household income and other program requirements.

- Call 2-1-1 for local assistance resources.
- Visit the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) Help for Texans website.
- Contact your local Community Action Agency.
Additional Community Resources
Local charitable, religious, and community organizations may offer emergency utility assistance to qualified households. Resources may include:
- Emergency bill payment assistance
- Rental assistance programs
- Senior assistance programs
- Veteran assistance programs
- Local nonprofit aid programs
Critical Care and Chronic Condition Customers
If a permanent resident in your home relies on electrically powered medical equipment or has a qualifying medical condition, you may be eligible for designation as a Critical Care Residential Customer or Chronic Condition Residential Customer through your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU).
How to Apply
- Download the PUCT Critical Care application form
- Have the form signed by your physician or other authorized medical professional.
- Submit the completed form directly to your utility via fax or email.
Note: These designations do not prevent outages but may provide additional protections and communications. Please contact your TDU for more information.
